The Oshiwara police in Mumbai have arrested a thirty-nine-year-old woman from Telangana for threatening actress and singer Zara Khan on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Zara Khan is the daughter of renowned actress and singer Salma Agha and lives in Lokhandwala, Andheri. For past few months, Khan had been receiving rape and death threats on social media from various Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Zara Khan had approached the Oshiwara police station and filed a complaint against the accused. Following the complaint, the Oshiwara police had written to Instagram and Facebook seeking details of the IP addresses used for operating these accounts.

Once the IP address operating these accounts were traced, it was found that the accounts were being used by a woman named Nuha Sarvar, a resident of Hyderabad in Telangana. Sarvar ran her own business earlier and used to travel to Mumbai and Pune for the same. Earlier this month, a notice was issued by the police to Nuha Sarvar to appear before them in connection with the case. However, she failed to appear.

On December 23, Nuha Sarvar appeared before police officials at Oshiwara after a second notice was served to her. Upon being asked the reason behind her issuing threats to Zara Khan and stalking her on social media, Nuhu Sarvar did not co-operate following which she was placed under arrest. Nuhu Sarvar revealed that she had created multiple fake accounts on Instagram and Facebook which were used to threaten and stalk Zara Khan.

Several sections of IPC and IT Act have been applied against the accused.
