One woman is using the power of social media to generate support for local businesses during the pandemic.Haley Dollarhide is not a social media influencer. She’s also not being paid to do this.Through her own creativity, Dollarhide has harnessed the power of Instagram to support local restaurants. Through her Instagram account, and by word of mouth, she’s started a gift card giveaway.It started just with her, but now her friends, strangers and even the Mississippi Restaurant Association are donating to the cause. “So you tag me and the restaurant that you’re eating at locally and you put it on your story or your Instagram picture or whatever and then you’re entered. And you potentially win a gift card to somewhere else,” Dollarhide said.She came up with the idea to help local businesses because she has several friends who are small business owners.Dollarhide says she wants to include locally-owned shops in the gift card giveaways after the first of the year.
